Hurricane Eta developed into a tropical storm in the evening of Oct. 31 and strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane by the morning of Nov. 2. Eta's extreme intensity at the beginning of its lifetime followed by its erratic path afterwards bought widespread impacts across Central America, the Greater Antilles, the Bahamas, and Florida with heavy rainfall, strong winds, and flash flooding causing most of the damage.
